Alpha Arbutin is one of the ingredients that is relied on as a brightening agent to fade skin problems related to, hyper pigmentation. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation spots occur as a result of lesions or inflammation of the skin. They are the consequences of an overproduction of melanin. For those who don't know, melanin is the pigment that gives color to skin, hair and eyes. The cells that produces this melanin are called melanocytes. These spots can be red, pink, brown or even black. The coloring depends on the depth of the discoloration and the initial skin color.
